Theresa Sapergia

Theresa Sapergia received a BFA from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C. and a MFA from Concordia University in Montreal. Sapergia has exhibited in New York City, at AIR Gallery, and across Canada in Vancouver, Toronto & Montreal. She currently lives in Vancouver, Canada where she is a tattoo apprentice.

Theresa’s painterly drawings and drawerly paintings are based in a material exploration of figuration and a questioning of the historical tropes of representation. Her work uses sentimentality, sincerity and humor to call into question contemporary art’s current relationship with irony and distancing.
