COLLISION 14: A Serious Pleasure
Parisian Laundry is delighted to host Collision 14, the annual exhibition opened to graduating MFA students from Concordia University and l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Students were invited to submit their final projects for a solo show in Parisian Laundry’s bunker. Over the years, Collision has proven a critical initiative in fostering and showcasing emerging Canadian talent.
For the 2018 edition, Parisian Laundry chose the work of Concordia’s MFA student, Madeleine Mayo. Mayo’s practice is situated at the interstices of painting and sculpture. She employs figurative and abstract tropes as a vehicle to engage with the formal and effective experience of colour, mimetic representation, and of her own subjective relationship to the objects she creates as manifestations of love and desire.
